Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common questions about MentorSub.
General
MentorSub is a platform that connects mentees with experienced professionals for 1-on-1 mentoring sessions. Everything — messaging, scheduling, video calls, and payments — happens inside the app.
Anyone can sign up as a mentee to find and work with a mentor. To become a mentor, you need to apply and be approved. Mentors are verified professionals who share their expertise through the platform.
MentorSub uses a credit-based system. You purchase session credits through a subscription or as add-ons, and each session uses one credit. You can manage your subscription and credits in Billing.
Sessions & scheduling
Once you're connected with a mentor, open your conversation with them and click the "Book a meeting" button at the top. You'll see their available time slots — pick one, confirm, and you're all set. Both you and your mentor will receive a calendar invite.
Video calls happen right inside the conversation. When a meeting is about to start (within 15 minutes), a "Join" button appears. Click it to start the video call. Both participants join from the same conversation page — no Zoom, Google Meet, or other tools needed.
As a mentee, you can cancel a session as long as it's more than 24 hours before it starts. To reschedule, cancel the existing session and book a new one. As a mentor, you can decline the calendar invite to cancel. Sessions within 24 hours cannot be cancelled through the app.
Yes. When a session is booked, both parties receive a calendar invite via email. This works with Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Calendar, or any app that supports .ics invites. The invite includes a link to join the session.
Sessions are typically 30 or 60 minutes. You can see the session duration on the booking screen before you confirm.
Payments & billing
As a mentee, sessions are paid for using session credits from your subscription or add-on purchases. A credit is reserved when you book and consumed when the session completes. Manage your credits in Billing. As a mentor, you are paid a fixed per-session rate after each completed session — set up your bank details in Earnings.
If you experience any issues with a session, please reach out to us and we'll work with you to resolve it. We want every session to be valuable.
Account & security
Go to Security in your account settings to update your password and manage security options.
Go to Become a Mentor to submit your application. You'll need to connect your LinkedIn profile for verification. Once approved, you can set up your mentor profile and start accepting mentees.
All communication and sessions should happen within MentorSub. This ensures sessions are tracked, payments are processed correctly, and both parties have a record of the mentorship.
